When you're on softcore, you focus on those things, but you equally focus on other things, like damage and such. The stress would be on defense, vitality, resistances, everything to make your character less and less prone to any damage, nevertheless death. How is this even being discussed? You build a hardcore character in a COMPLETELY different way than you would a softcore character. That shows just how hard the game is to play HC. Virtually noone makes it to 99 on the HC LoD ladder, and that's a good thing. Not only that but, the economy of HC will probably suffer because high level characters with HR's and high level gear will probably switch, and the ladder will suffer because less people will be on it. That's not the point.Īnd to rebutt Phrozendragon: The hardcore concept as a whole is lost with this implementation, and individuals are cheated by this system, with the mindset of: If I do well enough I might fall back and go softcore. You shouldn't play Hardcore just to chicken out later.
If you don't want it to die then don't play it until your confident your skill level is enough to not get killed, or leave it there as a recognition of your achievement.
If you choose to create a hard core character and you really just lvled it to 70-80 without dieing and with getting decent gear, then you should be proud of the achievement. I think if you choose to play Hardcore you should come to grips with the fact that you're in it for the long haul.
